"How do you spell that?" and "Did you make that up?" I, of course, did not make up any of their names. Xander is short for Alexander. We found Hylan on a headstone in a family cemetery, and Declan we got from the movie, Leap Year. So there you have it. My children's names are pretty normal, even spelled normally. These next ones...not so much.

Shandarrian
Phylishia (made funnier bc her middle name is Lesha; go ahead, say it together.)
Markeicia
Demond (yet another variant of demon or devil; parents, you're just sealing your child's behavior fate when you give 'em a name like that)
Shaquerrioma
LaTavia
Tykeiaria
Kizavian
Johnique (similar to one of my personal faves, Uniqua)
Kentravis
Lazariah (if you want to give your children a name from the Bible, just do it straight folks)
Lamarquice
Teshuihna (I'll give you a dollar if you can pronounce this one and have the child say you're right.)
Rakegyn
Roquesia
Dajai (middle name Jai, uh-huh)
Pren'Dejia

There you have it, my annual name list, but I have one last one to add. While I was in the hospital I was discussing names with a nurse when she gave me these two. There were two cousins born close together. The first was named Tequilla which is pretty common. I even went to high school with one, but can you guess what the next baby was named? Margarita? No, too easy. Champagne? uh-uh. They named that poor little baby TeVodka.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-159606427753248518.post-74193138072383545492010-03-21T14:40:00.000-07:002010-03-21T14:45:40.595-07:00Something they're not quite gettingXander seems to think Jesus won't be resurrected until this Easter. I think it's kind of funny bc we've explained things to him before. Maybe an Easter FHE will clear things up.

Hylan continues to call Xander Hyney. Many months ago he reffered to himself and Xander both as Hylan, or Hy-yan, but now he's still Hy-yan, but Xander is Hyney.
Hylan has also started saying No thanks when he doesn't want something, but he also says no thanks when he's just plain telling us no. It's the rudest No thanks I've ever heard but then I laugh. I'm a terrible disciplinarian.

They are both so funny all the time. Almost everything they say is hilarious. I wish I could remember everything. Maybe after our time on Earth, we'll be able to look back at whatever we want. That would be totally awesome.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-159606427753248518.post-34647982879596533932010-03-21T14:36:00.000-07:002010-03-21T14:40:03.782-07:00poopy snow boogersSNOW on the second (or first, i'm not sure) day of spring is poo poo poo.

Reasons this shouldn't have happened:
This is Mississippi (and way in the southern part too)
Yesterday we had the air conditioner on
It's spring!
I told Than not to plant anything in the garden yet, but he did anyway, that booger

Only reason it's a good thing:
The swelling in my hands, wrists, and feet is down today.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-159606427753248518.post-20190537615079875882010-03-01T09:59:00.000-08:002010-03-01T10:12:30.148-08:00explanationI should have probably written more of an explanation for those pictures. Well, those two little babies are firsts for my brother and sister. Oliver was born on February 3rd and weighed 9 lbs. 13 oz. The dr. told poor Jodie that she needed a c-section. I feel her pain. Luckily she recovered quickly. Oliver, however had to spend 9 days in the NICU. Apparently, very large babies often have underdeveloped lungs. He's doing great now though. Than and I travelled out to Idaho to see Cliff, Jodie, and Oliver. We had a wonderful time replaying memories that we had there together and got to spend time with some great friends and my fantastic little bro.

Just two days ago on February 27th, my sister and her husband welcomed Dawson. I actually got to be the one to take her to the hospital after her water broke. Well, Than drove. David was in Louisiana working, but he made it a couple of hours later. My little lucky duck sister was only in labor for 6 hours and pushed for 10 minutes. She broke our family c-section curse! Well, Dawson weighed 6 lbs. 12 oz. There was more than a three pound difference between my two nephews!

So far my parents have four grandsons, and we're having another boy, so that makes five. This will probably be my last, but I'm going to spend alot of time trying to convince the dr. otherwise.

Hmm, I don't even remember what the other pictures were. Oh well.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-159606427753248518.post-19913427504175643612010-02-28T17:39:00.000-08:002010-02-28T17:47:02.627-08:00a few pictures, not many bc blogger is slow
newest nephew, Madeline and David's baby, Dawson
second newest, Cliff and Jodie's baby, Oliver

our family during one of the two big snowfalls this year; we had several smaller snowfalls, crazy year

Xander and Hylan in Pawpaw's chair

playing mariocart on the wii

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-159606427753248518.post-56410548389129781572010-01-27T12:39:00.000-08:002010-01-27T12:52:50.467-08:00I shouldn't complain but...There is an understandable worry among many lds parents about what their children are or will be learning in school. There should not be a worry about what they learn at church. I happen to have known Xander's primary teacher since she was born (she's a bit younger than my little sister). She's always been active, but she's also always felt a need to impress everyone she's around outside of church. I like her, and I don't think she would teach anything wrong to my child, but I have to wonder when she posts on Facebook her support of gay marriage and her obsession with lady gaga (ew) and her many nonmember boyfriends. GRRRRR. While I was growing up, I specifically remember times that I was taught the wrong things at church by members who were not following church standards or who thought they were outdated. WTC?! My parents taught me so well that this didn't affect me. I went home and told them what I was being taught. What if my children don't do that? What if I am not teaching them well enough. Xander's only three. I can't cover everything, and I doubt he'll ask. I'm just getting over worried. I'm just aggravated bc of one of her recent posts.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-159606427753248518.post-11364197177223597272010-01-27T12:18:00.000-08:002010-01-27T12:34:58.131-08:00It's been a whileFamily Updates

Than is back in school after a nice, lengthy Christmas break. This semester seems like it might be a little tougher, so we decided he'd take fewer credits this semester. He also has a grumpy, tired pregnant wife to deal with. :) Oh, and he is currently re-reading the Twilight Saga. Hehehe. I love my sensitive man.

Xander is learning more and more every day. He is getting pretty good at substraction and loves to pretend. Lately he's been a ghost every day or something that growls and has claws. I'm not sure what he's supposed to be. He loves watching out for Hylan and has kept him from making it to the street when I wasn't quite fast enought to catch him. His favorite tv shows right now are Curious George and Scooby Doo and his favorite games are WAR and Go Fish. He has also taken over family prayer. Someone else gets to say it about once a week. He loves Primary and Family Home Evening.

Hylan is a big big boy. He is wearing clothes that Xander wore just last winter. He says new words and sentences every day. He's extremely happy most of the time and pretty laid back, which is convenient when your older brother is a rough one. He loves to play with balls, sticks, and car. He recently gave up naps (for the most part). His favorite show is pretty much any cartoon, but he loves Curious George and Dinosaur Train the best I think. He also loves to play Hungry Hungry Hippos. For the most part, he's just a doll, but he is also the most destructive child I've ever seen, but you can't get mad at him bc he's so darn cute.

So far I've kept up with my New Year's Resolution to have FHE every week. It's not always prepared as well as I'd like, but we always have a lesson and activity. Mostly I've been busy trying to entertain the boys while I sit or lie down.......too much tv for them for sure. This baby is not giving me the nicer 2nd trimester that they say you're suppose to have. If anything I feel worse, but hey, I get a baby out of it. I've felt a few tiny movements, but nothing like I felt with my first two by now. I still think it's another boy.

My brother and his wife are expecting a baby boy any day now. I will be flying out to Idaho for a few days to help out. Than might get to come out with me too. I'm really excited. It will be my first nephew (or niece for that matter) on my side of the family. My sister is expecting a boy in March. We're pretty excited for that too, of course.

Well, that's what's going on with us.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-159606427753248518.post-30097937443463834232009-12-29T19:35:00.000-08:002009-12-29T19:45:28.583-08:00#3For those of you who don't know yet, Ludlow baby #3 is on his way. Today was my hear the heartbeat appointment, but the doctor couldn't find it. We had a scary few minutes, but the dr. did an ultrasound, and the baby was doing fine as far as he could tell. Even though baby is too small to tell the sex, Than and I both kind of felt like it was another little boy.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-159606427753248518.post-1722764256688508812009-10-31T20:09:00.000-07:002009-10-31T20:14:33.252-07:00Halloween pictures

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-159606427753248518.post-90498669590786642232009-10-23T07:18:00.001-07:002009-10-23T07:21:15.354-07:00Xander pooped in the potty! Well, as I mentioned before, Xander potty-trained super easy. He peed in the potty just fine after one accident on day #2. He told us when he needed to go. Everything was fine. He wasn't so sure about pooping, but he did it two or three times then he had an accident and has since refused to poop......at all! He won't even go in a diaper. We've given him laxatives. He can hold it with the laxatives in his system. He just asks us to rub is tummy while it hurts, but he won't use the bathroom. We've read stories to him while he's sitting. We've bribed him. We've stopped talking about it. Than gave him a blessing. We did an enema after the first five days and three doses of laxative. After another five days and failed meds, we did a liquid suppository. It's been three days since that. They hurt him so much. We explained why we had to do it, but he just refuses to go. I'm at my wits' end. I don't know what to do. He's in pain on and off throughout every day. He must have to use alot of energy to do what he's doing. Today I set up a chart in the bathroom, so after ten poops he gets to ride on the Amtrak. I also made Than a chart, so he can compete with him. Hey, it got him to eat vegetables, so maybe a competition will work. I doubt it. He really likes to go against everything we tell him to do, so I'm trying telling him I don't want him to go. He told me today that he would poop in a diaper, so I put one on him. I could tell he needed to go, but he still didn't. I'm just so frustrated.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-159606427753248518.post-8435999641292904582009-08-27T07:19:00.000-07:002009-08-27T07:21:01.002-07:00I'm pretty sure you dont',but in case you care to read the rantings of an lds southern stay-at-home mom who happens to be too interested in politics and government, follow my new blog at www.valerievents.blogspot.comUnknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-159606427753248518.post-74159623199584627622009-08-22T19:24:00.000-07:002009-08-22T19:30:05.252-07:00Big WeekXander is potty-trained except for his near complete lack of pooping. :) We've even had to give the poor boy a laxative. We're not sure if he's holding it on purpose or if it's just coincidence.

Than and I got to go to the temple on Wednesday and make a whole date day out of it while my mom watched the boys.

Than started school on Thursday and is feeling a little overwhelmed, but I think he'll be fine once he gets into the swing of things.

Hylan slept through the night last night. Hooray! (He gets up in the middle of the night sometimes and roams the house in complete silence, so we're super excited about him not getting up....not to mention that we got to sleep.)Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-159606427753248518.post-66562338642282017502009-08-15T18:25:00.000-07:002009-08-15T18:34:52.313-07:00A bit of small newsXander is potty-training right now. I wasn't really in that big of a hurry bc he seemed to fear the toilet, and I don't mind changing diapers that much, but I finally decided it was time. We put underwear on him Wednesday evening. He had one wet accident on Thursday and has been clean since. Only one problem has occurred: fear of pooping in the potty, but he finally did today. I thought he was going to hold it forever. I know you really don't want to know about this. It's more of a funny reminder for myself. That's our news this week on Xander.
Favorite toys: a net that Grandma and Grandpa got for him a while back, a pair of tongs, and trains

Hylan is talking more and more. He finally started saying Pawpaw which has made my dad super happy. No Mimi yet though. He's obsessed with Barney and likes to throw everything. His terrible 2's stage has begun I'm afraid, but he's just so cute when he's being bad. Xander can't get the best of him anymore. Hylan fights back and now starts alot of the scuffles. They play great together most of the time though.
Favorite toys: DVD and CD cases and trains

Favorite activities together: wrestling on the bed and jumping on pillows.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-159606427753248518.post-31383882858544850062009-08-10T19:44:00.000-07:002009-08-10T20:11:56.807-07:00Pictures on my blog. Tonight we walked down the hall to find him holding Cliff and Jodie hostage in their bedroom. He said they were being punished. We still don't know why.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-159606427753248518.post-24278921149135873422009-07-19T14:42:00.000-07:002009-07-19T14:44:45.753-07:00Questions about primaryFor all of you who are serving in primary, have recently, or have kids in it right now:

Do the kids only sing the songs for the program all year? Do they ever get to sing anything else? That's what's happening in our primary right now, and I feel the kids are missing out, but maybe it's like that everywhere. Please comment and let me know what your primaries are like. What about classroom decorations?Unknownnoreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-159606427753248518.post-92221134259088015312009-07-10T13:04:00.000-07:002009-07-10T13:13:37.440-07:00Lots of happenings1. Than is starting school full time in about a month. We have no idea how we'll pay for everything (really, pay for ANYTHING), but we know it will work out somehow.

2. My mom made it through yet another surgery. She had her thyroid removed , along with the tumor that was on it. The surgeon seems to think it wasn't cancerous after all. So, the biopsy was wrong? What? I think they should have to pay for the lifetime of medication she is now going to have to take.

3. My grandmother is now in an inpatient hospice facility. We will probably lose her in the next few days. I'll have an entire, probably rather interesting post on her in a few days.

4. Happy news. My brother and his wife are expecting a baby and will be visiting at the end of next month. Hooray! My sister and her husband also just found out (yesterday) that they too are expecting. Everyone is guessing that they'll both have girls.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-159606427753248518.post-71158544334236901672009-07-04T19:37:00.000-07:002009-07-04T19:42:07.321-07:00Wonderful DayIndependence Day was really fantastic this year. We usually don't do too much, but Than loves to grill, so we had steak, salmon, burgers, hot dogs, corn, peaches, and garlic bread, all done on the grill. The boys played in their pools all day. I ran into a friend whose husband just got home from Iraq. I was so happy for her, and it was great to meet him. It really was a great day to remember and celebrate what a wonderful country this is ..............................................................................until that little tree incident, but that's okay. I'll remember the good parts of the day.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-159606427753248518.post-82219754519743372952009-07-04T19:25:00.000-07:002009-07-04T19:36:19.108-07:00Than and I have joined the ranks........of drunken rednecks...except we weren't drunk of course. In my defense, I tried to stop him, but there is no stopping Than once he gets his mind set on something.

Now let me tell you this. Together, we have cut down several trees in our yard. It's probably not the smartest thing to do, you know, cut down huge oak trees, but we've done it successfully. I've held a rope and pulled them over before.

So tonight we decided to take down three little ones right in the front. We need some firewood, so I thought, what the heck. The first one came down with no problem. We cut it up and hauled the logs to the backyard. Then I started to really look at the second one. It was leaning at about a 30 to 35 degree angle toward the road (and power lines , yay for safety on our part). I mentioned this to Than about three times, but he decided he could do it.

He could not. After a few minutes of trying desperately to get it to fall the way we wanted, it fell on the power lines and knocked out power to our house and several around us. We did get it off the lines pretty fast though and got it to fall to the side. We got the power company out after about a half hour or so. They asked Than if he'd cut the tree. He said yes. They said our power should be back on in a few minutes. They were right.

I'm calling Monday to see what kind of bill they will be sending.
I'm not sure Than learned his lesson.
Me: "So I guess we won't be cutting down that last tree."
Than:"Naw, I can do it, no problem."
Yippee Skippee am I excited for that one.

I know you've been laughing. I'm not offended. I'll laugh about it myself after the bill is paid...hopefully.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-159606427753248518.post-1457465241183312242009-06-27T19:39:00.000-07:002009-06-27T19:43:07.753-07:00Funny XanderIrrational fear: band-aids

Funny quote today: I can't go swimming. Xander told us how much he liked them as we were walking around wal-mart last night. Mama enjoyed Biltmore Estate above everything else. Than, Xander, and I did a grape juice tasting while we were there. I ended buying three bottles. Than and I went shooting with Troy...lots of fun. We loved seeing all the natural beauty that North Carolina has. I especially loved the craggy gardens in the mountains. Oh, and we also got to see bears in the wild. That was pretty exciting. I will try and post pictures. If you would like to see some now, try this. www.facebook.com/valerie.ludlow I'm not sure it will work, so let me know.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-159606427753248518.post-79280099061633614112009-06-11T13:30:00.000-07:002009-06-11T13:49:16.935-07:00I JUST CAN'T GET ENOUGHI really can't get enough of crazy names. Maybe you can, so just don't continue to read if that is the case. I will try to make this my last "names" post.

Okay, to begin: I'm sure you've heard about George Foreman and naming nearly all of his children George or some form of the name like Georgette. Egomaniac maybe? Well, recently I've discovered that this strange practice isn't all that uncommon.

-A certain man named Kobie has one son named Kobie Jr. and another son named JaKobie (they have different last names; I guess one kept the mother's name). His daughters don't have his name, but they are worth mentioning.....Kamyra and Ku'Nyria. BTW, Mr. Kobie goes by the name Nu Nu.
-Twenty years ago my father taught the son of someone he played football with in high school. The man's name was Andrew. His son's name was Andrew. Jump ahead twenty years. Andrew Sr. has gotten divorced and remarried (and since divorced again). He has another son twenty years younger than the first. What do you think his name is? Yep, Andrew.

Alright, now I have a nice list taken mostly from birth announcements. Sorry for any repeats from a previous post.

-Zachiaya -Sen'Torrance -GVontae -CorDarius -Enijah
-Rhontundra -Kartayrious -Kimyreon -Jakden -JaTarion
-NaYanna -Enysia -Tyliyah -DaMarkus -ZyKireah

*I did NOT alter any spelling, capitalization, or punctuation to protect the stupid.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2
